Max McGuire will debut “Drops of Jupiter” by Train at the Acoustics’ Final Show on April 9th.

Acoustics Abroad

March 29th, 2011

So one of our beloved Acoustics is studying abroad in Paris this semester and another member studied abroad in Amsterdam last Fall (2009), and so some members (Emily, Ashley, Michelle, Max, Nate, and Marie) met up in these cool spots over the Boston College Spring Break!

Acoustics can be abbreviated as “Stix.”  We cleverly shaped our bodies to spell it out in front of the Eiffel tower (above) and then using the “S” and “T” of the I Amsterdam sign (below).

Congratulations!

Welcome to the family!

It’s November and we’re still busy!

March 29th, 2011

We had a show FRIDAY NOVEMBER 5th in McGuinn 121 at 8pm called Stix got the Beat, a collaborative show between the Acoustics and the BEATS.

The next day, we performed at a gig at Louis Boston down on the Waterfront.

A week later we had our annual brunch at Father Neenan’s, our faculty advisor.

The week after that we had our Fall Cafe titled Old People Cafe!

October Check-In

March 29th, 2011

On October 7th, we had a collaborative show with the Heightsmen, which can be seen on youtube: www.youtube.com/bcAcoustics if you missed it.  We debuted Brianna’s 2nd solo in the group, “Boy from New York City” by the Manhattan Transfer. Check out our sweet shuffleboxing and other choreography.

In Mid-October, we took a trip down to Warwick, RI and stayed with the Early Family.  We thank the Early family so much for your hospitality time and time again.  It was, as it always is, so much fun staying in your home.

This past weekend we had a Halloween Invitational including the Harvard Callbacks, UNH’s Alabaster Blue, Emerson College’s Acapellic’s Anonymous, and Olin College’s Power Chord.  Check out the show on our YouTube if you missed it!  We debuted Fran’s new song “Trouble” at the show.

We were also able lead the BC Eagles into victory in their latest football game against Clemson.  The Acoustics performed the Star Spangled Banner prior to kickoff.  Sources suggest this helped the team finally win a game helping our record improve to: 3-5.

Acapellafest 2010

March 29th, 2011

Within a week of the audition process, we had Acappellafest for the first time ever in Robsham.  We sang with the Against the Current, BEATS, Dynamics, Heightsmen, Madrigals, Sharps, and Voices of Imani (all acappella groups in the BC Community).  It was a huge success and tons of fun.
